A Bit About Melissa
Hi there, I'm Melissa and I'm 29 years old. I was born in Massachusetts but moved to New Jersey when I was two years old. I'm a certified Special Education and Elementary teacher. I've been teaching/working in public schools for 6+ years. I recently finished my Masters Degree in Educational Leadership and Administration. I hope to use my background in education to support our child's own educational journey.
I'm looking forward to becoming a stay-at-home mom once our little one arrives. Children are only young once and I want to cherish that time while also becoming one of their first 'teachers' in life. It sounds a little nutty but I look forward to the late nights, early mornings, crying episodes, and tender moments with our child.

My Nanny Experience
I've been fortunate enough to nanny two little girls for the past 10 years. Even saying that is mind blowing!! I started working with the family when "B" was just 3 months old. It was shortly after that I learned they were related to my boyfriend (now husband). When "L" came along a few years later I was ecstatic for the opportunity to help mold another little person. I have had the privilege to witness some of their first words, steps, and join them in creating several fantastic memories. It is great to know that our child will have such fantastic cousins/friends to play with.

My Hobbies
I'm a self proclaimed nerd. I love school (duh I'm a teacher), reading, crocheting, crafting, baking, etc. Growing up I loved to play with my little kitchen set and I'm told I used to hide little snacks in the oven so I could 'cook' them. Suzy homemaker from the start I suppose! My dad took me fishing a lot as a child and as an adult I've grown a love for camping. It doesn't get much better than spending time around the fire, roasting smores, and telling stories.
We also both love hockey! Growing up my dad tried to get me to watch all kinds of sports with him, but hockey was the only one that really stuck. We take the train into the city to attend New York Rangers games with friends a few times a year; especially when they are playing the Devils, Penguins, or Flyers. I can't wait to teach our little one how to ice skate while Robert can't wait to take them to their first hockey game at Madison Square Garden! |
